The Assam University Act, 1989
About this Act
An Act to establish and incorporate a teaching and affiliating University in the State of Assam and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

[(1) The jurisdiction of the University shall extend to the Cachar, Karimganj,
North Cachar Hills, Karbi Anglong and Hailakandi Districts of the State of Assam.]
(2) On and from the commencement of this Act, all Colleges situated in the districts of Cachar, Karimganj, North Cachar Hills 2 [, Karbi Anglong and Hailkandi] shall stand affiliated to the University.
