Short title, extent and commencement.
About this Act
An Act to make provision for civil defence and for matters connected therewith.
(1) This Act may be called the Civil Defence Act, 1968.
(2) It extends1 to the whole of India.
(3) It shall come into force in a State or part thereof on such date2 , not being a date earlier than the date of the expiry of the Defence of India Act, 1962 (51 of 1962), as the Central Government may, by notification, appoint and different dates may be appointed for different States or different parts thereof.
