Long Title: An Act to provide for the constitution and regulation of an armed Force of the Union for the better protection and security of railway property, passenger area and passengers and for matters connected therewith.

Section 1: Short title, extent and commencement.
    (1) This Act may be called the Railway Protection Force Act, 1957.
     (2) It extends to the whole of India.
     (3) It shall come into force on such date 1 as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
