¹[309A. Alterations pending issue of a safely convention certificate.--Where any survey of a ship for the purpose of issue under this Part of a safety convention certificate has been completed, then, notwithstanding anything contained in this Act, the owner, agent or master of the ship shall not, until such certificate has been issued, make, or cause to be made, any alteration in the structural arrangements, machinery, equipment and other matters covered by the survey without the prior written permission of the Central Government or a person appointed by that Government in this behalf.]
