Long Title: An Act to establish a corporation to be known as the Export-Import Bank of India for providing financial assistance to exporters and importers, and for functioning as the principal financial institution for co-ordinating the working of institutions engaged in financing export and import of goods and services with a view to promoting the country s international trade and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

Section 1: Short title, extent and commencement.
    (1) This Act may be called the Export-Import Bank of India Act, 1981.
     (2) It extends to the whole of India.
     (3) It shall come into force on such date 1 as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint, and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act.
