Long Title: An Act to provide for, as a good governance, efficient, transparent, and targeted delivery of subsidies, benefits and services, the expenditure for which is incurred from the Consolidated Fund of India, to individuals residing in India through assigning of unique identity numbers to such individuals and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

Section 42: General penalty.
    Whoever commits an offence under this Act or any rules or regulations made thereunder for which no specific penalty is provided elsewhere than this section, shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 1[three year] or with a fine which may extend to twentyfive thousand rupees or, in the case of a company, with a fine which may extend to one lakh rupees, or with both.
