Section 1: Short title, extent, duration and commencement .
    (1) This Act may be called the Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1932.
     1[(2) It extends to the whole of India except 2[the territories which, immediately before the 1st November, 1956, were comprised in Part B States].]

     (4) The whole of the Act except 4*** section 7 shall come into force at once, and the State Government may, by notification5 in the Official Gazette direct that 6** * section 7 shall come into force in any area on such date as may be specified in the notification.
                                                    STATE AMENDMENTS
    Karnataka
    Amendment of Central Act 23 of 1932.--In the Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1932 (Central Act 23 of 1932), in sub-section (2) of section 1 after the words and letters "Part B States", the following words, brackets, letters and figures shall be added, namely:--
    "other than the territories specified in clause (a) and clause (c) of sub-section (1) of section 7 of the States Reorganisation Act, 1956 (Central Act 37 of 1956)."

     Maharashtra.--
     Extension of Act XXIII of 1932 as Amended to Hyderabad and Saurashtra areas of Bombay State.--The principal Act of 1932, as amended by this Act, is hereby extended to, and shall in virtue of such extension be in force in, the Hyderabad and Saurashtra area of the Bombay State.

     Maharashtra.--
     Amendment of section 1 of Act XXIII of 1932.--In the Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1932, in its application to the State of Bombay, in section 1,--
    (1) in sub-section (2), after the words and letter "comprised in Part B States" the words", other than the Hyderabad and Saurashtra area of the State of Bombay" shall be inserted;
    (2) to sub-section (4), the following proviso shall be added, namely:--
"Provided that in the Hyderabad ad and Saurashtra area of the state of Bombay this Act except section 7 shall come into force on the date of the commencement of the criminal law Amendment (Bombay Amendment and extension) Act, 1959 (XXIV of 1959)."
