Section 1: Short title, extent and commencement.
    (1) This Act may be called the Police Act, 1949.
     (2) It extends to all the 1 [Union territories].
     (3) It shall come into force in a 2 [Union territory] on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint in this behalf for 3 [such territory].
