Section 17: Jailer to give notice of death of prisoner.
    Upon the death of a prisoner, the Jailer shall give immediate notice thereof to the Superintendent and the Medical Subordinate.
                                                    STATE AMENDMENT
     Maharashtra.--
Amendment of section 17 of Act IX of 1894.--In section 17 of the principal Act, for the words "Medical Subordinate" the words "Medical Officer" shall be substituted.
