Long Title: An Act to consolidate the laws relating to food and to establish the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India for laying down science based standards for articles of food and to regulate their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import, to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

Section 101: Power to remove difficulties.
    If any difficulty arises in giving effect to the provisions of this Act, the Central Government may, by order published in the Official Gazette, make such provisions not inconsistent with the provisions of this Act, as may appear to be necessary, for removing the difficulty:
     Provided that no order shall be made under this section after of the expiry of the period of three years from the date of commencement of this Act.
     (2) Every order made under this section shall be laid, as soon as may be after it is made, before each House of Parliament.
