And it is hereby enacted, that the operation of this Act shall be confined to the Provinces of Bengal, Behar, Orissa and Benares, now subject to the General Regulations and to the Ceded and Conquered Provinces similarly subject to the General Regulations under the Government of the Presidencies of Fort William in Bengal, and nothing in this Act contained shall affect land in the Town of Calcutta or the Settlements of Singapore, Penang or Malacca.
