Section 56: Power of officers exercising jurisdiction under Act, with regard to false evidence.
    If, in any case in which a Collector or other Officer shall exercise Jurisdiction under this Act, any person is guilty of the offence of giving or fabricating false evidence, or of forgery, as defined in the Indian Penal Code, or of abetting any of those offences, such Collector or other Officer shall have the same powers in respect of such offence, and of the person charged with, committing the same, as are vested by the Code of Criminal Procedure in a Civil Court, when any such offence is committed before or against such Court, or when a document charged to be a forgery is given in evidence in any proceedings in such Court.
