If the defendant rely on any document in support of his defence, he shall deliver the same into Court at the first hearing of the suit; and unless such document be so delivered in, or its non-production be sufficiently excused, or unless the Collector see fit to extend the time for producing the same, it shall not after-wards be admitted.
