If before the day fixed for the sale a third party appear before the Collector and claim a right or interest in any of the moveable property taken in execution, the Collector shall examine such party or his agent, on oath or affirmation or otherwise, according to the law for the time being in force relative to the examination of witnesses, and if he see sufficient reason for so doing may stay the sale of such property.
