Long Title: An Act to amend the law relating to the recovery of Rent in the Presidency of Fort Willian in Bengal.

Section 55: If defendant only appear to dispute the demand, Collector shall pass judgment by default; but if defendant admit the claim, Collector shall decree upon such admission. Proviso.
    If on any such day the defendant only appear, the Collector shall pass judgment against. the plaintiff by default unless the defendant admit the cause of action, in which case the Collector shall proceed to give judgment for the plaintiff upon such admission without costs;
    Proviso.—Provided that such judgment, if there be more than one defendant, shall be only against the defendant who makes the admission.
